Until You Do.
Is the Vaccine Safe?
What does it mean to call a vaccine successful? Success for vaccine research is determined according to efficacy and effectiveness. Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna have both reported efficacy of around 95% for their vaccines. Alicia Staley, Sr. Director of Patient Engagement, 3x cancer survivor, and patient advocate explains efficacy below.
How Was the Vaccine Developed So Fast?
Bringing a successful vaccine to market in less than a year is an astonishing accomplishment. Vaccine research and development typically lasts a decade or more—this duration includes preclinical research, Phase I trials, Phase II trials, Phase III trials, and time for manufacturing and approval.
Why Should I Get the Vaccine?
The vaccine equips your immune system to fight the virus so you can stay healthy, but vaccinated people can still transmit the virus to unvaccinated people. That’s why it’s important to get vaccinated—we can’t return to our normal lives until enough of the population has received the vaccine.
