The Program:
At Medidata, interns will have the opportunity to accelerate their careers by working closely with experienced professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. For 12 weeks, beginning May 19, 2025, interns will have an opportunity to gain a deep understanding of what it means to be a Medidatian. Our Summer Internship program also includes instructor led training, guided mentorship, exposure to senior leadership and community service. In addition to individual and specific related responsibilities, each intern will participate in our Intern Innovation Lab. Assigned to cross-functional teams, interns will work closely to develop an innovative solution to a business problem currently facing Medidata. As they work diligently to present their final solutions to a panel of top Medidata leaders, we are confident that our interns will make a significant impact on our business.
About the Team:
Medidata Designer improves the experience for research organizations to create their clinical studies on Medidata's platform. As Test Engineer, you will help contribute to solutions to decrease overall study build timelines and improve study build quality.
Over a 6 month period, you will learn about our microservices architecture and develop tests for REST APIs and GraphQL endpoints to help reduce product validation timelines. You will report to the Test Engineering manager and contribute to the creation of test strategies, automation, and diagnosis of complex issues. You will test the products to reveal quality and risk related information with the intent of informing a decision.
- Contribute to the development of a project's test strategy and automation suite.
- Identify gaps in the current automation suite and help to prioritize them into the development backlog.
- Build test automation scenarios in these areas: missing low-level coverage, full integration, and smoke tests for essential paths.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts for feedback into software and test design.
This project will be focused on implementing automated test scripts to maintain the quality of our Medidata Designer software product.
In this project/role as an SDET Intern, you will:
- Gain high-level understanding of underlying test frameworks.
- Understand architecture of automation test frameworks.
- Understand validation process under an Agile methodology.
- Gain understanding of BDD concepts.
- Follow Medidata's Standard Operating Procedures to ensure all software meets regulatory and company requirements.
- Work with Agile team members to write concise and comprehensive automated feature files.
- Participate in Agile working practices such as daily scrum meetings, sprint grooming/planning meetings, reviews and retrospectives.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
- Programming experience in one of the following: C#, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, or Java.
- Experience or familiarity with Source Code Control such as GitHub.
- Some Knowledge of Testing Techiques.
As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than NYC may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base hourly pay range for this position is $32.00 an hour and a $3,500 sign on bonus.
